About Us
The iAcrylic story
In 2011 I was shooting some promotional photos for a friends product catalog. During the 2 day shoot we spent some time on the factory floor. While on the floor we started talking about the process of making acrylic and stainless steel laboratory equipment. During that discussion we talked about the quality materials used and the specialized sizes that are created for custom uses. One function of custom manufacturing is some amount of material scrap… I left that day thinking about the process and the what could be done with the leftover materials
We started to research the possibility of combining photography with the acrylic and stainless process. We started to explore the possibility of creating custom stainless frames for large scale photography… we made lots of prototypes (some 5′x10) and the looked amazing but we were not happy with the eventual buckling of the prints under the glass in the frame. From there we looked for a solution to flatten the image… we started looking at every laminating solution under the sun… and we tried lots. Finally we settled on a solution where you mount the face of the image directly to the acrylic. Results… amazing color pop and minimal glare.. then we stared playing with paper options… initially we focused on a standard paper but eventually got to metallic prints and knew we had found the a great product solution.. and Innovative Framing Solutions was born..
After we had made a number of frames we decided to try the process with the 3/4″ acrylic that his shop used extensively… this is a beautiful glass like material that blocks 99% UV and has a very luxurious feel. We played with this solution for a while and really started to work the kinks out of the process… and iAcrylic.net was born. From here we added one more key option.. with the access to laboratory grade stainless we decided to try creating a stainless backer option… this really finished the product off nicely, protected the back and brought us back to the stainless and acrylic solution we hoped to find
Now we have done more pieces we can count, have created everything from 5″x7″ to 40″x60″ pieces and really encourage the use of metallic paper to give extra depth and contrast to the peices. We create every piece by hand, we focus on quality and customer service first and we have a great list of clients that come back over and over that we are very thankful for..
Have a look around the site, ask some questions, maybe place a small order and see what your work would look like on iAcrylic… I think you might find that it is a really nice alternative to canvas and gives you a premium fell that you get from no other product on the photographic market…
Thanks
Brian
